Using the city of San José as a reference point, take the Florencio
del Castillo Highway to the Southern Interamerican Highway, Route 2. From there,
enjoy the great climate as you drive through the beautiful high mountains of
fog-shrouded Cerro de La Muerte, highest pass on the Interamerican Highway,
until you reach kilometer 80, where you take a detour to the right for 9
kilometers on well-maintained country road, finally reaching the slopes of
the Savegre River - your tranquil destination.
Tavelling by bus:
Take a San Isidro Bus, either from San José or San Isidro de El General, and
ask to be left at Kilometer 80 in the entrance to San Gerardo de Dota ("Entrada a San Gerardo de Dota")
is 9 Kilometers downhill from there. When you reserve please let us
know that you are going to need transportation from the main highway, we will be there to
pick you up. The cost for picking you up and taking you back to the entrance will be US$10
each way, maximun 5 people.
It is important to be at the Stations at least two hours in advance to get your
tickets, although it is much better to buy them the day before.
Where do you take the bus?
If you are in San Isidro de El General you can take the buses from
MUSOC, the station is located 3 blocks away from the Central Park.
If you are in San José you will need to go to the MUSOC Bus Station in Downtown San José,
it is located on Central Street, 22nd Avenue; in front of Maternidad Carit. It is easier to
just take a taxi there.
