Using the city of San José as a reference point drive South on the Panamerican Highway, Route 2. After leaving the urban and industrial areas of San José and Cartago you will enjoy the great climate as you drive through the beautiful fog-shrouded Talamanca Mountain Range, known as Cerro de La Muerte, reach kilometer 80 up in the mountains (pay attention to the yellow concrete markers on the side of the road, there is also a good road sign indicating the entrance to San Gerardo de Dota just seconds before you find the right turn into the gravel road), take the turn to the right for 9 kilometers on well-maintained country gravel/dirt road, Savegre Lodge will be on the left side of the river of the same name, you will see the sign and bridge .

You will need to take the bus that provides public transport between San José and San Isidro de El General, and ask to be left at Kilometer 80 in the entrance to San Gerardo de Dota ("Entrada a San Gerardo de Dota" in Spanish) The lodge is 9 Kilometers downhill from this point. When you reserve please let us know that you are going to need transportation from the main highway, we will be there to pick you up. The cost for picking you up and taking you back to the entrance will be US$12 to $15 each way, maximun 5 people.

It is important to be at the Stations at least two hours in advance to get your tickets, although it is much better to buy them the day before if you can, please inform us of the time as soon as you have your ticket.

If you are in San Isidro de El General you can take the buses from MUSOC, the station is located 3 blocks away from the Central Park, everyone knows in town where it is, two blocks west from the north side of the Cathedral, the take a right and go for three blocks heading North. The station will be on the left side.

If you are in San José you will need to go to the MUSOC Bus Station in Downtown San José, it is located on Central Street, 22nd Avenue; in front of Maternidad Carit Hospital. It is easier to just take a taxi there.

Buses leave from San Isidro or San José at the following times: 5:00 a.m., 5:30 a.m., 6:30 a.m., 7 :30 p.m., 8:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m. , and 5:30 p.m., Office hours: 5:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m everyday.
